It was a cold winters night. The snow had covered everything for months and would lie for months more.
It was quiet outside, serene. Humans rarely came out here in the forest. And they never did on cold winter nights.
The forest went on for more miles then you could count. It covered the entire continent. It was an old forest.
Undisturbed.
The sudden flash of movement.
Two wolves.
Running through the forest.
Side by side.
One male, one female.
Running together through the endless forest.
They loved each other as wolves do.
Humans talked about marriage and binding two people together.
The wolves wouldn't have understood.
Their love was different. They ran together, side by side. No bonds to keep them. No bonds that could be broken. Their love was who they were and what they did.
And so they continued running through the cold winters night.
Stopping to eat, play and sleep.
Together...
Always together. Not bound, but because they both wanted to.
"Running in the same direction for a while" As wolves said.
The end
